We’ve done it!!  Build A School are very proud and excited to announce that the BIG LOTTERY FUND have awarded us a grant for our fantastic Women’s Fairtrade Certified Essential Oil Co-operative and Farmer Training project in Malawi.  Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity.

Build A School would like to thank Joseph Richards for his wonderful fundraising achievements so far. On 31st July 2011 Joseph took part in and completed the Virgin Atlantic Triathlon in London and has raised over £850 through ‘Just Giving’ for us – that’s amazing!!

Do you own an old banger that’s merely gathering dust in the garage?

Then you can do your bit for Build A School and help us serve up our “bangers and cash” initiative!

We have teamed up with Giveacar which is a UK based fundraising organisation that specialises in donating unwanted and scrap cars to charitable causes throughout the world, including Build A School.

They provide a FREE service which is available throughout the UK, and can work with you hand-in-hand in the following ways:

• They can arrange the collection of the vehicle;
• Depending on its age and condition, they can either send it for environmentally safe disposal and recycling at an Authorised Treatment Facility, or to a salvage auction.

This means that a large portion of the proceeds are donated to a nominated charity of the vehicle owner’s choice!

Since Giveacar was set up in 2010, the organisation has already raised over £350,000 for over 250 charities!

Build A School are currently competing in the Global Giving “Gateway Challenge”  to raise funds for the amazing new women’s Fairtrade certified essential oil co-operative at our sustainable living Tickbird Visitor Centre in Malawi.  This co-operative will provide employment, income, independence and empowerment for the women of the local village.  Please donate at: http://www.globalgiving.co.uk/pr/8100/proj8042a.html! The team – Giles Golding, Dean Smith, Paul Markham, Kelly Francis and Nicola Payne had fun playing games with the children followed by cutting the ribbon and enjoying the dancing and music at the opening ceremony.  They also took the opportunity to visit our Mbelekete Primary School during their visit to Malawi.
