A huge thank you to Monica Norley, Founder and MD of the Visionary Soap Company (www.visionarysoap.co.uk) for spending time in Malawi recently with the Build A School team and doing some wonderful soap making training with our Tickbird Women’s Group.  The empowerment and motivation that has been given to the women is amazing.  More updates coming soon on the progress of this incredible group….

Gill Clegg – Trustee
Gill is currently Head of the Humanities Faculty at Lytham St Annes Technology & Performing Arts College in Lancashire, having previously taught in Scotland for 18 years. As a teacher/Head of Modern Studies she developed a keen interest in the Politics of Aid and Development.  Gill has also worked with Learning & Teaching Scotland on the Education for Citizenship project, on The Learning Schools Programme for the Open University and consulted with The Red Cross in Scotland on The Humanitarian Education project. We are very excited to let you know that we have just started construction work on site at Lilongwe Girls School in Malawi!
Through our new partnership and donations from Educating Girls Globally (EGG) http://educategirlsglobally.weebly.com/ we have been able to start with the construction of additional pit latrines and the extension of the security wall at the school, both of which are extremely high priority. There are currently 529 girls at the school sharing just 2 pit latrines.
